--safely-skip-permissions

The responsible way to be irresponsible.

Your webcam monitors your attention while Claude runs with permissions skipped. If you look away or leave your terminal, tool calls are blocked until you're back.

claude --safely-skip-permissions
❯ ▌
watching

macOS only. Requires Claude Code.

curl -fsSL andrew.net/safely-skip-permissions/install.md | claude
Or use a shell script
curl -fsSL andrew.net/safely-skip-permissions/install.sh | sh

How it works

  • MediaPipe Face Mesh detects your face, head pose, and whether your eyes are open
  • A PreToolUse hook blocks Claude's tool calls when you're not watching
  • A screen overlay shows a green/red border matching your attention state
  • The Claude binary is patched so the UI says "safely skip" instead of "dangerously"
  • Regular claude and --dangerously-skip-permissions are unaffected

Permissions

You'll need to grant these in System Settings → Privacy & Security:

Camera Webcam access for face detection
Accessibility Detect frontmost app & window size (to verify your terminal is focused and maximized)
Screen Recording* May be needed for the always-on-top overlay border

Grant these to your terminal app (Terminal, iTerm2, etc). The installer will tell you if anything is missing.
